Polar bear named silver king and lion may not be a real story… Miss Z. I. Davis writes fiction and Christian books, here’s proof. From the Christian Advocate: books.google.com/books?id=bNPvLPue2UUC&pg=RA10-PA12&dq=Miss+Z.+I.+Davis.&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwipofqAmPb0AhVaQjABHe_kAHoQ6AF6BAgKEAMShe is mentioned there, so she write Christians books. She is also mentioned here, in the western Christian Advocate books.google.com/books?id=upwxAQAAMAAJ&pg=RA30-PA9&dq=Miss+Z.+I.+Davis.&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwipofqAmPb0AhVaQjABHe_kAHoQ6AF6BAgEEAMFrom The American Issue, she is listed to be a contributor for denominational, religious, family publications, etc… books.google.com/books?id=HOUVSo-msr8C&pg=RA17-PA12&dq=Miss+Z.+I.+Davis.&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwipofqAmPb0AhVaQjABHe_kAHoQ6AF6BAgMEAMAnother story from here, called the “Eastern Morn” where she fights about Jesus Christ. books.google.com/books?id=0MRZhe9FFjwC&pg=RA13-PA15&dq=Miss+Z.+I.+Davis.&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwia3YuDmPb0AhUzVzABHbAWC2g4ChDoAXoECAgQAwShe also does it in this book called Lutheran Companion books.google.com/books?id=sGFMAAAAYAAJ&pg=RA50-PA5&dq=Miss+Z.+I.+Davis.&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwia3YuDmPb0AhUzVzABHbAWC2g4ChDoAXoECAkQAwThe northern Christian Advocate she is mentioned books.google.com/books?id=W4QxAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA37&dq=Miss+Z.+I.+Davis.&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwia3YuDmPb0AhUzVzABHbAWC2g4ChDoAXoECAEQAwShe writes more about Christians here. books.google.com/books?id=6zwvZd9oIygC&pg=RA3-PA30&dq=Miss+Z.+I.+Davis.&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwia3YuDmPb0AhUzVzABHbAWC2g4ChDoAXoECAIQAwShe makes fictional stories and writes about religion and god. That would explain why the category of the book is “Congregational Churches” Which means biblical, religion stuff, that would also explain why it has quotes and dialogues. That story with lion is probably fake. No proof it’s the same Bear. Paul Rainey was a society member and a hunter whose animal collecting expeditions has netted the zoo. He had six musk oxen, 2 polar bears named Silver King and Silver Queen, and a small walrus. He never had a lion,so where the hell did the lion come from? that story is fake books.google.com/books?id=Tb-fdQcUxdYC&pg=PA47&dq=silver+king+polar+bear+lion&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi9rtqErvb0AhVsTDABHWKGAmoQ6AF6BAgDEAMSilver King was put in a small cage where no man or beast would go near. This same source also mentions the other polar bear and walrus. books.google.com/books?id=vvkzAQAAMAAJ&pg=RA3-PA67&dq=silver+king+polar+bear+lion&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi9rtqErvb0AhVsTDABHWKGAmoQ6AF6BAgFEAM

So lets make a summary of lion vs grizzly bear to clearly understand the winner easily,
1. Physical AdvantagesIn this the bear clearly has the advatage as grizzlies can overwhelm the lion is length and weight. The grappling ability, bite force, durability and stamina is also better than the lion. Bears also have enormous strength.
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/thread/133/bear-strength
The bear claws are also very deadly.
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/thread/154/bear-claws-joke
Lions have only have the advantage of speed which does not plays a big role. So morphological studies show beaes have a good advantage.
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/thread/10/major-morphological-studies-comparing-animals
2. Animal's nature
Lions are fighters but sometimes they are though to be as good as grizzly bears which is not accurate. Lions are by nature hunters, not fighters. Grizzly bears on the other hand, are pure fighters.
Lions in pit fights killed bulls
www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/wildanimalwarfare/lion-kills-bulls-and-buffalo-t44-s10.html&ved=2ahUKEwiK5NXSmov2AhUFgv0HHWsPDUQQFnoECDMQAQ&usg=AOvVaw27l1OZQ8tUey-pqay-2hBw
, but they never accomplish such feasts as the grizzly did as the burly bruins were sometimes known to kill more than 4 bulls.
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/thread/142/grizzly-spanish-fighting-bull-accounts
In courage and tenacity, the grizzly bears always prepondrates the Lion as many experts told.
domainofthebears.proboards.com/thread/1423/grizzly-bear-lion-real-beasts
3. Accounts
Contrasts to common believe, bears have killed more lions in captive fights than the lion. In zoos or circuses, animals often accidently start to fight, in which bears killed lions.
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/thread/6/bears-defeat-lions-accounts
Lions also killed bears but less than the bears
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/thread/146/lions-defeat-bears-accounts
, which clear turns the winning tables towards the bear.
4. Arranged fights
There is no find about lion and bear encounters in the wild. But we have arranged fights between lions and bears in arenas which is a very good way to see the real winner as in such fights animals were dreadful and fought with full courage and strength until death.
Bears and lions fought in the roman arenas, in which the bears always won as told by famous historian.
domainofthebears.proboards.com/post/8974
This is furthur proved by a well-known biologists that the bears always killed the lions in those fights.
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/post/3365/thread
Roman arena fight happened in b.c. but the same scenario was seen in the California pit fights in which again the sublime grizzly bears deafeat the African lions.
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/post/3466/thread
5. Expert opinions
Another important thing to notice is that "the grizzly would kill a lion" is not only just a simple statement, it is a opinion of experts as many bilogists, writters, historians, hunters, naturalists and animal trainers think that the Lion is no match for a grizzly bear.
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/thread/18/opinions-favoring-bears-over-cats
So in the end, due to the upper given proof, a brown bear of well size beat a lion 9 out of 10 times.

Notice.
Prime posted a account about a lion killing a bear in Rome. But it’s fake, here’s why.
The account:
Lion kills bear in roman arena: The gladiators halted in front of the magistrates' bench, threw their weapons into the air, and then turned to...the bearstood growling in the centre of thearena, the lion march back to Round and round they whirled; little could be seen but flying sand and mangled fur. Then a pitiful cry came from the bear and blood began to flow into the sand. The lion stood over him, gnawing at the bear's throat. Out into the middle of the arena came men with nets, quietly approaching the victorious lion to throw their nets over him and drag him away.
However, there is in fact more.
It also states this:
A fanfare of trumpets announced that the Games were about to begin and silence fell . From the doors leading to their ... “ It must have cost a great deal to bring a lion here , ” thought Lucius . “ They must want to please me .
“Thought Lucius” it states. How do you know exactly what someone is thinking in real life? Fake?
I would like to hear you guys opinion.

Maybe he said it out loud to someone? It says he THOUGHT meaning he was thinking, and you can’t tell what someone is thinking in real life.

Maybe he said it out loud to someone? It says he THOUGHT meaning he was thinking, and you can’t tell what someone is thinking in real life. "Thought" could just be a figure of speech. I can say "one of my friends thought a bear killed a lion in a circus", how do i know this? Because he told me.

How can then know what Lucius is thinking word by word? The only answer is that it’s fiction and fake.

Once, when I was at my last duty station in the marines ( 1968 ), I stumbled upon a small booklet which told of the Roman Games animal against animal fights recorded that had survived for all these centuries. The bear was almost undefeatable and always defeated the lion. Michel Pastoureau says the same thing in his book; THE BEAR, History of a Fallen King. Years ago, a poster ( thought I would remember his name ) found the entire records translated into English online. I've searched and searched for those, but come up empty.

Michel Pastoreau’s Roman Book www.mullenbooks.com/pages/books/179998/michel-pastoureau/tympans-et-portails-romansLook at these books talking about rome quoting Michel. “According to Michel Pastoureau, it was the Romans who first associated Gaul with the rooster.” books.google.com/books?id=x_8nDwAAQBAJ&pg=PT60&dq=michel+pastoureau++roman&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjN8Kuytfb1AhVyg-AKHQDPAko4ChDoAXoECAkQAw“These things need to be said because in his book on black, Michel Pastoureau claims that black funeral processions began with the Romans, while penitential black was later and Christian.” books.google.com/books?id=-1FHAgAAQBAJ&pg=PA49&dq=michel+pastoureau++roman&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi0vO-2tvb1AhXFc98KHbOBBP04FBDoAXoECAMQAwHere’s a source stating Michel evolvement with Romans and their colors. “The French cultural historian Michel Pastoureau has written that while the classical world produced many treatises on the rainbow, neither the Greeks nor the Romans saw blue in its band of celestial shimmer.” books.google.com/books?id=v2tyAwAAQBAJ&pg=PR8&dq=michel+pastoureau++roman&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwistfTztvb1AhVjn-AKHbx4AlE4HhDoAXoECAEQAwOne of the best sources, it states that his focus is that European societies of Roman antiquity , topics in Rome include myth, minerals, taxonomy, color, etc. “Pastoureau’s focus is that of European societies from Roman antiquity to the eighteenth century based on almost 40 years of seminars conducted at the École Pratique des Hautes Études and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in France. It includes such topics as color etymology and taxonomy; minerals and pigments; prehistoric ochres; myth, lore and allegory; medieval heraldry; dyestuffs; color physiology; funerary traditions; iconographic conventions; robes and vestments; and medicinal functions. Lavishly illustrated, it is beautiful to behold.” muse.jhu.edu/article/766579/summaryThe book ITSELF “Fallen King” states he researched Rome. “The oldest discovered statue, fashioned some fifteen to twenty thousand years ago, is of a bear. The lion was not always king. From antiquity to the Middle Ages, the bear’s centrality in cults and mythologies left traces in European languages, literatures, and legends from the Slavic East to Celtic Britain. Historian Michel Pastoureau considers how this once venerated creature was deposed by the advent of Christianity and continued to sink lower in the symbolic bestiary before rising again in Pyrrhic triumph as a popular toy.” www.abebooks.com/9780674047822/Bear-History-Fallen-King-Pastoureau-0674047826/plp

Book: Man meets grizzly by Young and Beyers"I have read, too, what has been written by the great hunters, but none of them knew the bear of California. He is the sovereign of beasts; in strength, weight, endurance, and sagacity superior to the lion, and I doubt not has formerly destroyed some great and powerful tribe of lions on this continent."
This is book, is he referring to the california grizzly bear beating the lion in pit fights??

books.google.com.ar/books?id=AdsHAQAAMAAJ&q=endurance%C2%A0
So we really need to read the whole context to understand. Maybe brobear can go back and read it as he is the only one that has the book.
