l The fight happened in 1908.No, I didn't mean the fight. For "article" I meant the one saying that the bear had rheumatism, which date is this article?

Anyway, there's another important thing to note. The article you posted even said that "the bear has sick even since the arrival from London" so it says all.

Oh yeah definitely, it even says the bear had to be retired from the arena. And i dont think it would recover from rheumatism in just 17 days. That bear was definitely sick and weak. So it seems that lions have killed sick and weak polar bears and also at least one sick and weak brown bear.

In all the bears kill lions accounts, there is not one that states that the lion was sick, nor there is not one account from bible, old testament, or humour book source. Yes, even though most dont have any info, like the weight of the animals, the bears were most likely larger, but that is just how nature made these animals, so its not like its unfair.

And i dont think it would recover from rheumatism in just 17 days. How so? Can you explain me why? Well, i dont know much about rheumatism, but its a chronic disease (long lasting), so its very unlikely it would get cured in 17 days, it can be made less painful, but not cured:Is rheumatism a curable disease?
I know a lot of people suffering from rheumatism as a chronic disease; they have started the treatment with non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, but the effect does not last for a long time, so they have to be treated all their lives.
Much progress was made to understand better this disease, including immunology and molecular pharmacology studies.
What is the best way to understand the disease of certain subjects and the best strategy to defeat this persistent disease?

Reply #28, wow, that is an awesome find there bro! I mean really really good! It also confirms what Pastoureau said about Rome, so when you have 2 completely different sources stating the same thing, that is a great sign.

He also favpurs moat adult brown bears and polar bears over the african lion. He says that the african lion is sometimss touted as the king of the beasts but is no match for most adult brown bears and polar bears.

Book by Albert S.Evans , a california state writters tells that lion does not derserve the title of king of the beasts. Read the whole pages, they are insteresting. "The lion has generally been represented as the "king of the beasts", and numberless are the stories of his courage, strength, and ferocity. The truth is, the lion is nothing but a great overgrown cat, and his courage is just that of a cat on a large scale, and nothing more. A cat will fight when cornered, from sheer excess of cowardice, but she always prefers running""But the stories of dangerous characters of the grizzly, unlike those relating the lion, are not and cannot be exaggrated. I know from observation that the oldest hunters are the most afraid of a contest with grizzly and take the greatest pains to avoid one"

You can see many hunters also saying that the grizzly bear is more harder and formidable to hunt than lion or tiger. Thats good that everybody know tge reality of felines when compared to bears. I finf tryth and post it here. Anyways what is left for lion fans? Nothing!
