/\ That video above confirms my opinion: although the sloth bear successfully repels tigers, a hungry tiger would kill it if it wants to. Regardless, the sloth bear did seem to put up a defensively aggressive stance.
In my opinion, a similar interaction between sun bears and Malayan tigers/ honey badgers and leopards.

I of course, acknowledge that the tiger won. Now having said that, its like always, the footage shows that fight already started, so as we dont cant see how the fight started, then we automatically assume it was by ambush. We dont know the age or sex of the combatants either, but as we can clearly see, the tiger was much larger. And as we can see from the quote above, they "fought for so long time".
So a much smaller sloth bear, even while being most likely ambushed and injured beforehand, still gave the tiger a long fight. This speaks pretty good for the sloth bear in my opinion.

/\ Male Amur tigers kill female Ussuri brown bears by aiming for the base of their skull. If the ambush fails, it results in a fight which the male tiger won with some injuries and went to rest. In my opinion, it is similar to the Bengal tiger and sloth bear account, a failed ambush which resulted in a fight.

Yes, it indeed speaks well for sloth bear. If a larger tiger kills a smaller sloth bear, even in a quick fight, so it isn't much to be celebrated since tigers have a clear size advantage and in wild size does matter. However, the thing noteworthy here, is that, despite if being smaller in size, that little bear still gave a tough fight to a larger contender; thats a real point. If a smaller bear can give a hard time to a tiger in a fight, so imagine what happens whwn a larger bear fight a tiger.

Good info; I learned something here. Notice that the bear shows absolutely no fear of the tiger, but ran when he sees the person or group of people making this video.

This is also (imo) a sign of bear intelligence that this sloth bear could read such intimate body language of the tiger.

Tiger fans will cry a river after seeing this. It's so "factual" that tigers are the ultimate animals, right?
