I found this. New case of sloth bear ‘dominating’ and not showing fear around tigers. “In December 2002 , I watched a sloth bear approach the Sakari water hole . A young male tiger was also .” “Both tiger and bear stood on their hind legs and tried to hit each other . This happened three times ; then the tiger retreated a few meters , and the bear , unperturbed wandered off . A few meters away , another tiger , the brother of the first , appeared in front of the bear but did not attack or approach him . The bear simply walked past . The second tiger joined his brother , and the incident was over . I completely forget I even posted that. At least this time I showed the full context. I noticed that there’s tons of sloth bear and tiger interactions. Shouldn’t be to hard to find.

Gopal (1991) reported an incident in which a female with cubs on her back successfully repelled a tiger. (From Graah) Sloth bear chased tiger "Sloth bear chased a tiger t-57 #ranthambore #ranthamborenationalpark #tiger #tigres Insta- natures__cal" Five-years-old young male tiger T-57 "Singhsth". redirect.viglink.com/?key=71fe2139a887ad501313cd8cce3053c5&subId=3054534&u=https%3A//www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3Dm2nVyE34ptAHere: "The required protein could potentially be obtained by sloth bears from resources other than social insects. However, they probably feed on these social insects because of their widespread distribution, abundance and population stability (Wilson 1971). These factors ensure a reliable resource for bears. In addition, the myrmecophagous niche is without much competition in its range. Sloth bears seldom feed on carrion (a high energy resource and a possible source of protein), probably because of the risk of predation by sympatric predators, tiger and leopard, which generally guard their kills (Laurie and Seidensticker 1977). There could also be competition for carcasses from efficient scavengers such as the striped hyaena and wild pig. Carcasses also decay rapidly in tropical conditions." [...] etc, etc, etc....a tremendous read. Source: K., Yoganand (2005) Behavioural Ecology of Sloth Bear (Melursus ursinus) In Panna National Park, Central India. PhD thesis, Saurashtra University.

Before I again, I don’t know if this is a black or sloth bear, and there is no Indian black bear and tiger thread, so I posted it here. This is an adult male tiger injured by a old large male sloth/bear, the tiger was unfortunately put down later on. The tiger was described as angry, “big game hunter” Huge and muscular, great condition, books.google.com/books?id=ESA3AQAAMAAJ&pg=PA502&dq=sheer+savageness+of+temperament+that+prompted+the+tiger+to+do+this.+sheer+savageness+of+temperament+that+prompted+the+tiger&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&ovdme=1&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjO-qarz4n9AhXETTABHRrABJcQ6AF6BAgFEAM#v=onepage&q&f=falseAlso mentions a bear chasing a tigress. Tiger kills a large, full-grown male Black bear in a fight: Forty Years Among The Wild Animals Of India From Mysore To The Himalayas by F C Hicks Publication date 1910 Yes I see On one occasion, in 1893, while inspecting the Khatoli block in the north-east corner of the Jubbulpore District, on the borders of the Native State of Rewah, I came across the fresh tracks of a very large male tiger, "However, he had not got off scot-free from the bear, for there was a ragged wound across one of his cheeks, where the bear had apparently given him a severe clout with his paw, as well as a bad bite through his right forearm, besides a number of minor wounds and scratches on various portions of his body — so the old bear iiad died game. The wonder to me is that the tiger was bold enough to attack such an animal so persistently, for they usually give them a wide berth ; it must have been sheer savageness of temperament that prompted the tiger to do this. From the 1933 publication, extracts from The Book of the Tiger by Reginald George Burton:
The Indian sloth bear does not escape the hunger of the Tiger, but can scarcely be numbered among his aggressive enemies, although a bear was seen to attack and begin biting a dead Tiger which had just been shot. Bears no doubt not infrequently fall victims, and I recollect the inhabitants of a village in the Melghat forest bringing to camp the skin of a large bear which they said they had killed after it had been badly mauled by a Tiger with which it had had a prolonged struggle. The skin bore tooth and claw marks, and there was no reason to doubt the truth of their story; but the bear could probably not put up much of a fight against so formidable and agile an antagonist. I have found remains of bears eaten by Tigers, and have also beaten both animals out of the same cover.
A bear was seen by Sir S. Eardley-Wilmot to gallop through a jungle and stop on reaching a road. A Tiger appeared on the road fifty yards off, and began stalking the bear, stopping when the bear stopped, and sinking on its belly when the bear moved on. This went on until only ten feet separated the two animals. Meanwhile two other Tigers came out and lay down to watch. The bear left the road and entered a patch of grass, the Tiger followed, but turned away when the bear rushed roaring at him. In another beat a wounded Tiger rushed at a bear with a cub on her back; the bear made off yelling, and another bear, where a Tiger was in the beat, howling dismally, fled to the hills.
pp. 106-107.
From F.C. HICKS, FORTY YEARS AMONG THE WILD ANIMALS OF INDIA (1910):
In fact, there are few living things in the jungles which a bear has cause to be afraid of, except, perhaps, a tiger; but though I have known a tiger to kill and eat a bear, on the other hand, I have seen a bear stand up to a full-grown tigress and drive it right out of the jungle.

This location is on the limits of the range of the Himalayan black bear, so its really hard to know if it was a black or sloth bear. And the screen shot you posted doesn't state the species of the bear, so this location is all we can go on. However, i believe this location is a little far South of the Himalayan black bear's range.

Each time a controversy like this comes up, i pick my brain trying to figure out the truth, i look at maps, read distribution reports, etc, etc. I could spend hours researching. From my research this time, its like i said before, the location of the event, the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, is a little south of the black bear's range, see here:
The Jubbulpore District (Jabalpur district in other wording) which is where the event happened, is a district of Madhya Pradesh state in central India:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabalpur_district
And here is the Distribution and status of the Asiatic black bear in India
www.researchgate.net/publication/280068144_Distribution_and_status_of_the_Asiatic_black_bear_in_India
I looked up the charts, state by state, district by district, and the state of Madhya Pradesh in Central India is not listed anywhere. The Asiatic black bear distribution in India is restricted just in North and North-East, not central India, which is where Madhya Pradesh is. You can read this in the introduction of the study above.
All Northern India:
Now, the even happened in 1893 when the Asiatic black bear in India was much more abundant, so i looked up the same study by the same author but from much earlier (2000) (the first one was from 2007), and its the same thing, all the distribution was in Northern and North-eastern India:
www.researchgate.net/publication/289417512_Status_and_management_of_Asiatic_black_bear_and_Himalayan_brown_bear_in_India
All North and North-east India:
For now, i will assume it was a sloth bear, until more research its done to see if black bears were present in the state of Madhya Pradesh in the year 1893.
