I just took a short look at that study, that is table #3, and in that section it does not specify about the bears. However, 2 of the authors are the same who made TSTP, which was from 1992-2013, these 3 adult tigers above (1 male and 2 females) were monitored from 2009-2012, so its basically the same data as TSTP. So yes, most likely a female brown bear. (1 subadult male brown bear was also killed by a tiger during 1992-2013).

That's a pretty blanket statement. Are we talking Female Tigers, male Tigers ? and of course are we talking about female or male Bears? The truth of the matter is conflicts between the two are likely quite rare given the current number of Tigers left in the RFE. Many skirmishes mostly likely are settled without a serious fight and the two likely avoid each other altogether. Have Tigers been killed by male Bears, im sure there have been and they likely were female Tigers. But these kind of things are the exception rather than the norm. |

Male and female adult brown bears are known to wreak havoc on tigers. Tigers only kill cubs and juvenile bears. |
