The title should be changed to "Silverback gorilla vs tiger" as the Russian Far East would be a terrible place for a gorilla to visit. The reason that I would give a Pantanal jaguar or a Sumatran tiger a 50/50 against a big bull gorilla, is the fact that a typical gorilla has little if any fighting experience. There are fights between males for dominance, in order to keep or take-over a troop, but these fights are rarely to the death and do not take place often. Leopards, in reality, normally avoid adult male gorillas. A silverback might live to a ripe old age and never fight with a leopard. In fact, most probably do. A big cat must kill regularly to survive. Granted, killing from ambush is not the same thing as fighting, but the cat does have killing experience. This, along with killing weapons, gives the big cat an edge. No one seems to know how strong a gorilla really is. Probably, somewhere between the strength of a large athletic man and a male black bear. The gorilla will probably go extinct with his strength level remaining unknown. Such a shame.

These 2 cats are simply too small, the size and strength advantage of the gorilla would overcome the fighting experience. Not to mention all the other morphological advantages gorillas have.

From Dian Fossey:
Many years later, after thousands of hours spent in the field, i found that interactions between distinct social units-lone silverbacks or groups, accounted for 62% of all wounds observed on male and female gorillas. From 64 skeletal specimens, i found that 74% of the silverback remains revealed signs of healed head wounds, and 80% had either missing or broken canines.
