Reply #24:
NUMBERS, DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT STATUS OF THE AMUR TIGER IN THE RUSSIAN FAR EAST:
E. N. Matyushkin, D. G. Pikunov, Y. M. Dunishenko, D. G. Miquelle , I. G. Nikolaev, E. N. Smirnov, G. P. Salkina, V. K. Abramov, V. I. Bazylnikov, V. G. Yudin, and V. G. Korkishko

Something doesn't add up. One of the authors of that study is Miquelle, there are 7 tigers killed by bears in the Primorski Krai and Khabarovski Krai in the period from 1985-1996, so why would he then say its not reliable? I will email Miquelle myself about this. That email is from 2009.

That email from Miquelle has nothing to do with those historical accounts But ML said "no tigers killed by bears from 1971 to 2005" and I debunked what he said.

I could give a single fuck what he posts or writes. The 12 historic cases of Amur tigers killed and eaten by brown bears were before 1973.

Out of all big cats, it seems that tigers and leopards are the most notorious man hunters. They hunt humans if they are severely injured or crippled or old.

At the Carnivala and at that other popular big-cat forum, that same juvenile fanboy is allowed to spread false information unchecked. I deleted both from my favorites and no longer visit them. Both have fanboy admins.

Not sure. But what it says is. That sounds exactly like each animal's mentality.

Quote: Enough to challenge the bear. They are equal in fighting at first. When they get fatigued, the tiger usually runs away for a rest. The bear in a rage, however, keeps on striking a tree or something else nearby. *The author must be talking about a male tiger and a brown she-bear. When has there been a reliable witness to a male tiger vs male brown bear fight? Also, from the second a tiger makes physical contact with a full-grown male brown bear, the fight is not equal. Also note, the tiger will be the first to experience fatigue.

This happens, we know tigers "challenge" bears in general, check.
Every fight starts as equal in general, check.
This is the most true statement, this is a 100% fact, we all know this, check.
I cant prove this statement true, however, i can see this happening, maybe someome witnessed this. the brown bear gets pissed off when the tiger runs away after a fight.
Sounds pretty reliable to me, no big deal.

This interaction seems to be the only one not seen on video. Even the white headed vulture, which is extremely rare, is show chasing off eagles.
