A question to all, since an average male Ussuri brown bear outweighs an average male Siberian tiger by 100 to 200 pounds, how much chances does the tiger have to win in a fight to death?

At averages, the bear weighs around 630 lbs, the tiger weighs around 420 lbs, it has a 210 lb advantage, its 50% larger. At this weights, i give the tiger 2/3 out of 10.

Let’s go ahead and refute tigers ‘dominating and decreasing bear populations’ Recent Articles only. The main provinces for bear bile farming are Heilongjiang and Jilin in the north and Sichuan and Yunnan in the southwest. www.animalsasia.org/us/our-work/end-bear-bile-farming/what-is-bear-bile-farming/the-current-situation.htmlMy own visit to two bear farms added additional evidence to the cruelty of this farming operation. When I was visiting China's biggest bear farm in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, what I witnessed was humanity's gross inhumanity to an intelligent nonhuman species. China will not be apart of modern world if bear farming is not outlawed books.google.com/books?id=puglBQAAQBAJ&pg=PA247&dq=heilongjiang+bear+china&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwitmeiY3a71AhXrVTABHXLhCIAQ6AF6BAgFEAM“In northeastern China, the Heibao bear farm in Heilongjiang Province is arguably the world's biggest bear farm. It covers an area of more than one million square metres and holds more than 2,000 bears, producing 2,000 kilograms of bear bile powder a year, with seven-state approved traditional Chinese medicine drugs containing bear bile. books.google.com/books?id=9zMXEAAAQBAJ&pg=PT108&dq=heilongjiang+bear+china&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwitmeiY3a71AhXrVTABHXLhCIAQ6AF6BAgIEAMBears are frequently found in Chinese zoos as ornamental animals as well as farmed as commercial animals, and are therefore in close contact with zoo- or farm- keepers, www.researchgate.net/journal/BMC-Veterinary-Research-1746-6148/publication/339829338_Prevalence_and_genotypic_identification_of_Cryptosporidium_spp_and_Enterocytozoon_bieneusi_in_captive_Asiatic_black_bears_Ursus_thibetanus_in_Heilongjiang_and_Fujian_provinces_of_China/links/5fc243f792851c933f6ad16a/Prevalence-and-genotypic-identification-of-Cryptosporidium-spp-and-Enterocytozoon-bieneusi-in-captive-Asiatic-black-bears-Ursus-thibetanus-in-Heilongjiang-and-Fujian-provinces-of-China.pdfTourists come to Heilongjiang to hunt bear, deer and wild boar. www.google.com/search?q=Tourists+come+to+Heilongjiang+to+hunt+bear,+deer+and+wild+...&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS976US976&hl=en-US&prmd=nimxv&sxsrf=AOaemvJOlC9r6LWN1LS__weXcvf2dysQ5Q:1642437962636&source=lnms&tbm=bks&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj5wM-anrn1AhUFlGoFHRHpAHwQ_AUoBnoECAIQBg&biw=414&bih=720&dpr=2 About 500–1,500 Ussuri brown bears are present in Heilongjiang, and are classed as a vulnerable species. Illegal hunting and capture has become a very serious contributing factor to the decline in bear numbers, as their body parts are of high economic value.[27] let en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ussuri_brown_bear#According to statistics, the population of Asian black bears does not exceed 20,000. The distribution in my country is mainly in the northeast of my country.East China, Southwest, Northwest, , South China , black bears have become extinct. Why does the black bear population decrease? The main reason is that human hunting and making into black bear products has led to a sharp decline in the number of black bear populations. At present, only Russia and Japan are legal to hunt black bears, but Russia has passed laws restricting the legal hunting of black bears to 75-100. It is reported that the number of illegal hunting of black bears in Russia is about 500 each year; the average hunting of black bears in Japan is 500 each year. Illegal hunting by humans is the main reason for the sharp decline in the number of black bears. Therefore, in order to prevent the black bear population from continuing to shrink, the best way to set up a protected area and stop all hunting behaviors can effectively protect the black bear population. At present, black bears have appeared in some nature reserves in our country, which fully shows that under the protection of our country's ecological environment, black bears and other wild animal populations frequently appear, which is of great significance. www.google.com/amp/s/daydaynews.cc/en/housepet/amp/found-for-the-first-time-what-is-the-value-and-significance-of-black.html2020 ARTICLE The main threat to this species is habitat loss due to the expansion of increasing human populations leading to activ- ities such as commercial logging, farming, roadways, and dam construction, as well as the use of various natural resources by communities bordering Asiatic black bear habitats. Commer- cial poaching for trade of bear body parts (especially gall bladders and paws) is also a serious threat, especially because bear bile has been an important part of traditional medicine in Eastern Asia. Although all international trade of bear body parts including bile farming is illegal under CITES, illegal domestic and international trading of bear parts is common (Garshelis & Steinmetz 2016). Because they often raid and damage crops and timber, and also attack humans (see Chap- ters 15 and 17), considerable numbers of Asiatic black bears are killed annually. Incidental hunting (by snare and box trap originally set for ungulates), legal sports hunting (which is only legal in Japan except some Prefectures and Russia), capture/ trade of cubs for bear baiting (i.e. illegal fights with dogs), and for dancing bears (Japan Bear Network 2006) also occur (see Chapter 26). The threat of climate change to Asiatic black bears worldwide is uncertain and needs to be monitored at local and international levels. sci-hub.se/downloads/2021-05-25/5a/kozakai2020.pdfSo what do you guys think?..

Reply #227, that is very good, very important info. So Batalov reports an adult male brown bear killed by a tiger and this "ghostly" event is not known by any other major authority on bears and tigers, not Miquelle, not Seryodkin, not Amur tiger center, i guess Batalov never heard about having his major "find" peer reviewed. If an adult male brown bear was killed by a tiger anywhere in Russia, you can bet your bottom dollar these researchers would know about it. Great job bro.

@venom Lord good job. They also said that there's only one confirmed case of a tiger killing a bear recorded in this century.
That also backs up the point that Boris has been confirmed killing a bear only once in 2014.

We know from TSTP that a tiger eat an adult male brown bear (he acted as a scavenger), and a tiger killed a 3-4 year old subadult male brown bear.

You know, when i first came into this debate more than 7 years ago, the tiger fans showed me those 3 historical accounts of tigers killing adult male brown bears, of course i didn't like it, but even at that time i didn't think it was such a big deal because they were only 3 documented cases in history, which is basically nothing, and since neither of the 3 cases have a description of a fight, they just state "kill", then its automatically assumed they were done by ambush. Of course killing an adult male brown bear by ambush is still a good accomplishment, but face to face would be the ultimate for a tiger. But later on, by reading Peter's posts (and other important members), i found out none of those cases are even confirmed, so even better.

We have asked Dale miquelle and seryodkin to tell us about those accounts, they even do not know those. They all are unconfirmed. Adult male tigers killed by brown bear ins't yet found because tiger mostly flee away when they sense a brown bear coming.

Ok so, the newest average weight of Amur tigers is 200 kg (441 lbs)Reply #25:
beargorillarealm.proboards.com/post/4345/thread
The lastest we have for the Ussuri brown bear is around 631 lbs, it is still a 190 lb weight advantage, the bear is 43% larger at averages.

Its just a general phrase, not much to analyze, its ok. Agreed. It is no different to saying barren ground grizzlies scare of polar bears in general without mentioning that older males stand their ground.

Dr Linda Kerley Survival in Zov Tigra National Park in the Russian Far East is challenging because of severe climate and large competitors such as Amur tigers and brown bears. This is a very large male brown bear coming to the same scent-marking tree as the male tiger named “Elvis”. A bear so fat and healthy is unusual in Spring after hibernating all winter without eating and indicates that he had plenty to eat before he started hibernation in the late Autumn. Bears and tigers usually avoid each other but when they meet if can be dangerous for both species. Some tigers will kill and eat smaller bears, and bears sometimes prey on tiger cubs, or follow tigers to kill sites and steal their kills. Mother tigers select den sites where cubs can hide in small caves or rock crevasses that are too small for such large bears. conservewildcats.org/2020/07/23/sharing-habitat-with-tigers-and-amur-leopards/
