Very little info on the Steppe wolf, but here is something:
Notes of an East Siberian Hunter
"I want to say a little more about the traits that distinguish our local forest and steppe wolves. The steppe wolf differs from the forest wolf in his whitish hair, and even more in his way of life, character, and natural senses. The steppe wolf is much wider-ranging then the forest wolf. The steppe wolf sees, hears and smells further than the forest wolf. The words "steppe" and "forest" explain this well. The steppe wolf is superior in endurance, bolder when aggressive, and shyer in the presence of danger, especially in the presence of humans. The steppe wolf will never miss a chance to attack a farm animal, and during winter it stays closer to villages."
