Female vs. Male Bison
This photo shows the differences between the male and female bison. The male is closer to the camera. It has a large hump on its back as well as a hump on its nose. Both genders have horns. The male seems to have more prominent shoulder fur but less of a beard than the female. The female proboscis is a bit more prognathic.

I’ve met quite a bit of Indian fanboys that think a bison stands no chance against gaur XD That's because they have no idea about the morphological features of these animals. A bison has physical adaptations for head butting which is the most important aspect in bovid fights.

I’ve met quite a bit of Indian fanboys that think a bison stands no chance against gaur XD Well, it's never been put to the test, and unlikely that it ever will. But, if a bull bison were to go head-to-head against a bull gaur in typical bull bovine fashion, which really is head-to-head, my nickel would be on the bison.

The gaur has literally only 100 kgs advantage over the bison but it's less intense as fighter and less heavily built. Tiger fanboys like to put gaur at 1.500 kg at average weight when in truth bull gaurs only weigh 810 kg on average.

The largest out of all gaur/bison subspecies is the Wood bison (Bison bison athabascae), which averages 943.6 kg (2080 lbs):

I think the most formidable bovids are only top two:- American bison and Cape buffaloes. Water buffalo are numerious in our country. There are many occasions of male buffaloes killing or injuring people. My some village relatives have told me that buffaloes are very aggressive, powerful and tenacious.

Agree. Thoigh i love buffalo more i favpur the bison. I favour the bison too due to weight advantage, better head butting, and thicker necks.

Aggression by dominant male bison (Bison bison) toward chemically immobilized conspecifics: a cautionary note
Abstract and Figures
The public is occasionally concerned about the detrimental impact of wildlife research activities, particularly capture procedures such as the use of chemical immobilization. One of the risks inherent with chemical immobilization is aggression (or predation) to immobilized animals by conspecifics; yet, data on such occurrences are rarely reported in the literature. We chemically immobilized 25 dominant age-class, large-bodied adult male bison (Bison bison). We observed seven instances (28%) of dominant adult male bison attacking a conspecific that was lying down shortly after being chemically immobilized. Incidences of attacks by aggressive males were more frequent during ground-based versus helicopter-based captures, but this difference was not statistically significant. Contrary to our prediction, we found no difference in the frequency of attacks during mid-summer or late-winter. Our observations highlight the aggressive nature of dominant male bison toward conspecifics and serve as a cautionary note to others chemically immobilizing them. With a marked interest in restoring bison to, and better understanding their ecological role in, their native landscapes, it is anticipated that capturing bison for research and conservation purposes will become more common. We provide suggested best practices so that protocols may be implemented to reduce potential injuries to immobilized bison from conspecifics, and these may also apply to other large, aggressive ungulates.

BISON SENDS PITBULL FLYING THROUGH AIR AT YELLOWSTONE:
A viral video from 2014 is getting a second fifteen minutes of fame almost seven years later.
On YouTube, a tourist, Miranda Dendys, shared a clip from her trip to Yellowstone National Park. In the footage, she filmed several buffalo as they stood in a grassy field. Unfortunately, a few seconds into the clip, Miranda’s travel companion, Richard, lost track of Miranda’s pitbull, Mac. Of course, the dog immediately dashed across the field to check out the large animals.
Almost immediately, Miranda’s pitbull charges one of the buffalo, and the massive animal defends itself. The buffalo head-butts the dog and sends the pitbull flying through the air. Afterward, Miranda recalled the incident on her YouTube page. In the video caption, she wrote:
“My pitbull Mac decided to get in-between two buffalo fighting and go running straight toward one getting headbutt and thrown into the air. Crazy dog.”
After regaining balance, the pitbull retreated to safety. Luckily, the dog was okay after the shocking incident. Unfortunately, the same fate cannot be said for Richard, who appeared to be in big trouble.

Bison: The biggest, baddest animal in Wisconsin (sort of)
In this Feb. 12, 2011 file photo a bison from Yellowstone National Park walks through the snow shortly before being shot and killed during a hunt by members of an American Indian tribe, near Gardiner, Mont. National park officials in Wyoming have announced plans for the selective slaughter of between 600 and 900 Yellowstone bison this winter to help manage population numbers. Ted S. Warren/AP Photo
