Probably confirms why polar bears are rarely as large as grizzlies in captivity. Still an undersized male polar bear fighting a lion of similar weight for ten rounds is impressive.

Polar Bear Weight. The National Wildlife Federation describes polar bears as the largest carnivorous land mammals on Earth. Most are 7 to 8 feet in length when measured from the tip of the nose to the tip of the relatively short tail. Males can weigh as much as 1,700 pounds; females generally do not weigh more than 1,000 pounds. A polar bear's weight fluctuates throughout the year: up to 50 percent more after their hunting season than when the seal-hunting season began in the spring and summer months -- that's when seal pups emerge from their dens as warmer temperatures melt ice, exposing open water. The bulk of the weight gain is stored as fat to be used for survival in the coming winter months. animals.mom.com/polar-bear-break-ice-5565.htmlIt seems most polar bears length are between 7 to 8 feet long. Polar bears in captivity are 8 feet tall at most if 1000 pounds at most in max. Male polar bears weighing 50% more after hunting does not mean they have 50% fat which is for females. It also means putting back on the muscles they have worked off during their exercise. Remember polar bears have the highest metabolism rate out of all bears.

Largest polar bear shot estimated to be 2200 pounds and 12 ft probably exaggerated and skin stretched by trophy hunters. No way this circus polar bear can be above 1000 pounds nor 12ft considering this woman is only 5ft.

/\ If it is accepted by Guinness World Record, I stand corrected.
At least the 11 and 1/2 feet tall polar bear is also verified in the link you posted.
12 ft tall as confirmed is skin stretched.

Reply 45. Still the exceptional 2210 pound male polar bear is not included in the weight summary in the link below: beargorillarealm.proboards.com/post/159/I personally believe that a polar bear at 2210 pounds and 11 and 1/2 feet tall can be liken to a giant heavier than an exceptionally heavy male polar bear. Just like the 8 ft man in China will be taller than even exceptionally tall men. A 600kg male Ussuri brown bear is also a one time record like than 2210 pound yellowish white bear. One thing I that still baffles me. Plenty of articles focus on the giant but not many talk about the dwafts.

Tracks: A polar bears forepaw is approximately 5 ¾ inches long and 9 inches wide while the hindpaw usually measures 13 inches long and 9 inches wide. The toes form an arc similar to a black bear’s track. A polar bear’s track is generally only visible in soft snow or mud and may show fringed edges due to the hair on the paw (Brown 1993, p 76). The bottom of the paw is completely covered with fur. The claws are black, short and stocky and are usually not visible in the track (Stirling and Guravich 1990, p 39). bear.org/polar-bear-facts/An average of 9 inch could mean 22.5cm paw width. The average male polar bear’s paw width is slightly wider than that of the largest male Ussuri brown bear and male Kamkatcha brown bear.

Polar bears have large paws compared to body size, reaching 30 cm (12 in.) in diameter. The large paws of a polar bear act like snowshoes, spreading out the bear's weight as it moves over ice and snow. seaworld.org/animals/all-about/polar-bear/characteristics/The only brown bears with wider paws than a yellowish white bear would be the kodiak and peninsula Alaskan brown bear. 30cm is the widest paw width a male polar bear has achieved so far. Maybe Stan’s paws are much larger if 30cm is for the largest common male.

/\ Impressive weight for a captive polar bear. He is big for captive specimen which is not surprising as the zoo he is born in is located in Canada, a relatively cold area. Captive polar bears in Australia are not that large.
At four years old, he is not even sexually mature. If he was born in the wild he would be much bigger, probably able to rival Stan.

If we devide 1350 pounds by 3, the result would be 450 pounds, that of an average female musk oxen.
