The short faced bear is not as heavily built as other bears yet it has a decent weight advantage over most other bears which makes it one of the strongest.

A bear can lift as much as its own weight. It is just not often seen with prey.

While Kodiak bears are as powerful as they are in reply 64, feats of the strength are shown less often compared to the more predatory polar bear. However, this does not discount the fact the kodiak is the strongest extant bear pound to pound or at least among the strongest and overall the second strongest bear after the male Foxe Basin polar bear.

/\ polar bears have been recorded pulling narwhals and belugas out of water. No cat will ever do this. Agreed with you. In addition, if use the square cube law to scale down the weight of a male polar bear, it would be stronger than any big cat of similar weight (speaking in theory). In reality, the male polar bear is too big and strong for any big cat (extinct and extant).

How Strong Are Polar Bears? [Strength Facts & Info].Polar bears are a fascinating species. Most people find them adorable, but the fluffy white coat hides a powerful killer. Polar bears are the largest among all bears as well as the largest land carnivores in the world. Are you now wondering how strong are polar bears and whether you’d stand a chance? Polar bears are the strongest bear species. Their bite force of 1,235 PSI is more powerful than that of a Bengal tiger and about eight times stronger than that of a human. In addition to a strong bite, polar bears also have a paw swipe force of over 1,800 pounds. That’s five times stronger than the punch force of a human. Here are some quick facts on polar bear strength: Polar bear bite force: 1,235 PSI Adult polar bear teeth size: 2 inches Polar bear paw swipe force: 11,500 to 59,500 lb.-ft./s Adult polar bear paw size: approximately 12×12 inches Adult polar bear weight: 330 to 1,700 pounds Polar Bear Swipe.Polar bears are heavy and fast, but how does that translate into power? How strong is a polar bear swipe? Weight and speed combined can produce a swipe force up to 59,500 lb.-ft./s. – the equivalent of approximately 1,850 pounds of force. Not only do polar bears have extremely powerful strikes, but their large paws and long claws can easily crush a seal’s bones and slice through its skin. In fact, polar bears have enormous paws that measure about 12 inches across and long claws that can measure up to 3.75 inches. It goes without saying that not all polar bears are this strong. Females are generally smaller and weaker than adult males. Yet, they are still incredibly strong. The table below compares the size and swipe strength of a polar bear male vs. female: CHARACTERISTIC
MALE Length 8-10 feet Weight 550-1.700 lbs. Paw swipe force 39,375 lb.-ft./s. FEMALE6-8 feet 330-650 lbs. 17,150 lb.-ft./s. Note: The swipe forces above are calculated based on the average male/female weight and considering the top speed of 35 miles per hour. The actual swipe force a polar bear can reach depends on the individual weight and speed at the moment of the impact. wildlifeboss.com/how-strong-are-polar-bears/

However I do believe that polar bear bite is stronger than grizzly's and maybe even tiger's and lion's (or at least as comparable). Because its jaws seems designed for killing bite due to the fact that polar bears have hyper-carnivorous diet. The site may be right.

No idea but most of the data seems legit. Is there anything questionable there?

On posters on the late Ava agreed that that tigers and lions have stronger jaws pound to pound but a larger male polar bear will have stronger jaws than both a tiger and a lion.

I once heard from a bearfan, that at equal weights, a bear is about 20% stronger than a big cat.

/\ Great find but that polar bear in that picture is not the largest. The lack of hair on the feet shows it is probably female or an immature male.
If we look at Stan, we can see he has a very thick neck.

Still even a female polar bear is able to drag a beluga up to five times her weight showing that she is no pushover.
